This one-of-a-kind 3D wooden map of New York City is a bold and luxurious piece of wall art, handcrafted by artist Hubert Roguski. Designed to go beyond traditional cartography, the map blends fine craftsmanship with dramatic visual contrast — turning a familiar city into an enigmatic, layered artwork that reveals itself differently from every angle.

The central composition measures 24x24 inch and is made from multiple layers of precision-cut plywood, arranged to depict the iconic geography of Manhattan, its rivers, and detailed street grid. The materials were carefully chosen to reflect both quality and artistic intention. The black surface is painted with a rich Japanese ink, known for its deep saturation and satin-like finish, while the golden base layer is created using delicate gold leaf sheets that shimmer with movement and light.

This unique structure creates an optical illusion: when viewed from the front, subtle lines of gold shine through the gaps in the black street layer. But as you move around the piece, the raised black elements begin to obscure the gold underneath, transforming the visual experience into one of shifting contrast and mystery.

The entire work is framed in a custom-built 32x32 inch frame, finished in matte black with a fine gold ornament along the inner edge — enhancing the luxurious feel without overpowering the central artwork.
